Tile Adhesive Coverage Calculator
How much tile adhesive you get through comes down to the trowel notch. Keep one number in your head: about 1.5 kg/m² for every millimetre of notch. A 6 mm notch, then, pulls roughly 9 kg/m². Times your area, and you have the total.

How to calculate adhesive
- Pick the right notch for the tile size.
- Estimate use per m²: notch (mm) × ~1.5 kg/m².
- Multiply by area = kg.
- Divide by bag size (e.g. 25 kg) and round up.
Formula: kg/m² ≈ notch (mm) × 1.5
Example: 20 m², 6 mm notch → 20 × 6 × 1.5 = 180 kg → 8 bags (25 kg).
Practical tips
- Uneven substrates increase consumption significantly.
- For large formats plan back-buttering – more adhesive.
- The factor is a guide; the bag's stated coverage is what counts.
