A bathroom isn't one calculation, it's two: floor and walls, kept apart. The floor is simply length times width. For the walls you take height times width and subtract whatever stays bare – door, window, often the shower niche too. Waste goes on both. And if the room is all corners and returns, the visual room designer lets you capture it cleanly as sub-areas.

How to calculate your bathroom
- Calculate the floor area (add sub-areas for L-shapes).
- Each wall: height × width, subtract cut-outs.
- Add 10% waste to floor and wall each.
- Also calculate adhesive and grout.
Formula: Bathroom = floor area + Σ wall areas − cut-outs, each × (1 + waste)
Example: floor 6 m² + walls 24 m² − 5 m² (door/window) = 25 m² of wall.
Practical tips
- Shower area: plan proper waterproofing and a flexible adhesive.
- A level-access shower needs a fall – plan cuts carefully.
- Wall and floor tiles are often different formats – calculate separately.
